Domaine de La Vieille Julienne Chateauneuf du Pape Trois Sources 2013
“There are few wines I’d rather have in my cellar (or better yet, on my dinner table), than the Châteauneuf du Papes from Vieille Julienne’s Jean-Paul Daumen.” – Jeb Dunnuck
One of the greatest producers in Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Vieille Julienne is run by the brilliant Jean-Paul Daumen. Coming all from a cool, mostly sandy terroir located in the northern part of the appellation, these traditionally made wines possess singular characters that have both richness and depth on the palate, as well as notable freshness. These are some of the most elegant wines in the Rhone Valley!
VM92: Brilliant ruby-red. Potent red berry liqueur, potpourri and smoky Indian spice scents on the highly perfumed nose, lifted by a mineral flourish. Sweet, concentrated and seamless on the palate, offering intense raspberry, cherry cola and lavender flavors that deepen and gain power with air. The penetrating, youthfully tannic finish shows outstanding clarity and thrust and leaves behind a juicy red berry note.
