Rudd Cabernet Sauvignon Crossroads Oakville Estate 2007

WA95+: The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Crossroads performed much better this year than it did last year. A blend of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Petit Verdot, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc, it is still unevolved with a primary character, but it does reveal attractive blueberry and cassis fruit interwoven with notions of incense, camphor, and licorice. As the wine sits in the glass, a graphite scent also emerges. Full-bodied with ripe tannin, but only hinting at its ultimate potential, this 2007 should be forgotten for 5-6 years, and enjoyed over the following 20-25 years.
