Rocca di Frassinello Le Sughere di Frassinello 2013
WA93: "This is a delicious value wine that has shown great strides forward in quality over the past two vintages. The 2013 Maremma Toscana Le Sughere di Frassinello is a hot seller and with 95,000 bottles produced, it should not be difficult to locate. The blend consists of Sangioveto, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The oak is evident but it is also folded nicely within the thickness of the wine. Rich flavors of dark fruit, spice, licorice and grilled herb peel off in thick layers. This wine is really beginning to shine."
A unique joint venture between Castellare and Domaines Barons de Rothschild-Lafite, Rocco de Frassinello is located in the hills formed by two sides of the old Aurelia in Monteregio de Massa Marittima. Le Sughere gets it name from the cork trees (“sughero” in Italian) that surround the vineyard. This is a wine of great character, blended from Sangioveto, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot.
