Roar Pinot Noir Sierra Mar Vineyard 2016
VM94: "Vivid ruby. Aromas of black raspberry, cherry cola, candied licorice and mocha pick up a suave floral element with air. Sweet and broad on the palate, offering juicy red berry and floral pastille flavors that are sweetened by a building vanilla note. The cola note comes back steadily on an extremely long, penetrating finish framed by smooth, harmonious tannins." - Vinous Media
WS92: "Fragrant and perfumed, with floral scents and wilted rose, plum, cherry and raspberry flavors. This is smooth most of the way, though gravelly tannins on the finish add traction. Drink now through 2023. 646 cases made." - Wine Spectator
Roar Wines is inspired by the roar of the cool winds streaming in from the Monterey Bay and the roar of mountain creeks which bisect their vineyards in the Santa Lucia Highlands. Gary Franscioni is a third generation farmer who launched Roar Wines with his wife Rosella. Sierra Mar spends 11 months in French oak. This Pinot Noir has a dark, jammy palate of lush fruit. Sustainable.
