Pol Roger Champagne Brut Rose 2009
Pol Roger has been producing some of the world’s finest Champagne for more than 165 years and is one of only a few Grande Marque Champagne houses that remains family owned and operated. The Vintage Rosé has a base of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay. A small amount of still red wine is added before secondary fermentation. Produced in limited quantities, this is aged for 7 years before release.
WS93: Rich accents of smoke and pastry lead to white raspberry and apricot fruit, ground ginger and Earl Grey tea notes in this firm, well-knit rosé Champagne. Long and creamy on the lightly spiced finish.
WA91: Blending 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay with 15% Pinot Noir red wine from the Montagne de Reims, Pol Roger's 2009 Vintage Brut Rosé displays an intense salmon/onion color and a rich, vinous bouquet of red berries and cherries that come along as ripe and dried fruit flavors. Full-bodied, round and dry, with very fine tannins giving a firm, refreshing and grippy structure framing body and the intense fruit, this is an elegant, fresh and finessed rosé with a delicate Pinot character on the finish. Aged for seven years on the second lees, the 2009 reveals good length and structure and is a serious gastronomic rosé.
