JS93: The cherries, citrus and flowers are really pretty here. It’s medium-bodied with a tight center palate and firm, racy tannins. Extremely lively at the end. Drink or hold.
VM90: The 2018 Chianti Classico is fresh, vibrant and ethereal. A wine of tremendous character, the 2018 is not obvious in any way, but it does offer tremendous appeal for readers who enjoy classically built wines. Sweet red cherry, cedar, tobacco, dried flowers and pine are all nicely layered. There is something incredibly retro about the Pagliarese Chianti Classico that harkens back to another era. I loved it." "The historic Pagliarese estate is a neighbor to Felsina and Castell'in Villa. In 1995, the Poggiali family, owners of Fèlsina, replanted the vineyard from a selection of property’s oldest vines. 2015 marked the first release from the new estate.
Here, Sangiovese is blended with small amounts of Canaiolo (for softness) and Mammolo (floral and spice). It is aged in neutral Slavonian oak botti. The result is a juicy and refined wine, filled with dark fruits. Organic.
