Lamole di Lamole Chianti Classico 2015
Lamole was first discovered by the Romans, who established vineyards and olive groves on the high fertile hills over Greve in Chianti more than 700 years ago. Over the centuries, wine production here became so important that Lamole was protected by a castle built by the Florentine Gherardini family in 1350. The castle’s ruins can still be seen today, and its former cellars are now the location of the Lamole winery. With some of Tuscany’s oldest Sangiovese clones and limestone-rich soils, Lamole is producing some of our favorite Chianti Classico. Their wines are immensely pleasurable, full of wild berry fruit, minerals, spices, violets, and silky tannins. This 2015 Classico is no exception, and it one of the top values we’ve tasted from this classic vintage.
JS93: This shows black cherries, licorice, black pepper and hints of dark chocolate. Full body, ripe and compact tannins and a bright finish. I like the harmony and focus here. Drink now or hold.
