Fratelli Revello Barolo 2015
The Revello family has been farming in La Morra since the 1940s, and brothers Enzo and Carlo took over their father's estate in 1990. Their vineyards, once belonging to the local parish, are among the finest crus in Barolo. They farm using sustainable methods and the wines are nearly all aged in barrique. This “entry” Barolo is sourced from parcels in the Annunziata district of La Morra, with vines first planted in 1960 on calcareous-clay soils. The wine is aged in French oak (20% new) for 24 months before release. While this has aromatics typical of wines from La Morra, it delivers power and structure more similar to the wines of Serralunga and of Castiglione Falletto. It is, without question, one of the great Barolo values available.
JS 95: The dark-berry, strawberry and charcoal aromas are impressive. Full bodied and totally integrated with wonderful presence and composure of fruit and tannin balance. Lovely finish. Lingers.
