VM94-95: Dark shimmering red. Highly expressive red berry and cherry preserve aromas are complemented by suggestions of garrigue, smoked meat and candied flowers. Sappy and penetrating on the palate, offering primary black raspberry, bitter cherry and spicecake flavors that show superb depth and focus. Gently gripping tannins build slowly on the impressively long, energetic finish, which leaves behind intense floral and red berry notes.
Domaine de Cayron has been run by the Faraud family since 1840. Three sisters comprise the fifth and current generation, working together to produce ultra-traditional wines with their father, Michel.
The Gigondas is made from old vines, 100% whole clusters, and is fermented in cement tank. Blackberry notes mingle with garrigue, white pepper, and basil with great freshness. A gorgeous, mineral-rich wine.
