Domaine Trapet Pere et Fils Marsannay 2017
The seventh generation Domaine Trapet is one of the greatest estates of Gevrey-Chambertin and is largely credited with helping save Burgundy from phyloxerra. When all treatments failed to end the scourge, Louis Trapet tried grafting, which was illegal at the time, and the following year they were the only winery to make wine! Full bodied and elegant with hints of earth, the 2017 Marsannay will drink well young, but age for years.
WA89-90: The 2017 Marsannay offers up an attractive bouquet of ripe cherries, blackberries, sweet soil tones and licorice, followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample palate with tangy acids and fine chalky tannins. Like all Trapet's 2017s, it's a vibrant, racy wine which will age with style.
