Domaine Lafarge-Vial Fleurie Joie du Palais 2019
Frederic and Chantal Lafarge manage the Lafarge family’s iconic domaine in Volnay. In spring 2014, they purchased 2.25 hectares of Beaujolais Cru and embarked on a project that would be entirely their own creation. Fluerie Joie du Palais is from 60-year-old vines planted on steep slopes. It’s full of ripe, dark fruits. Smooth and velvety with a lovely freshness and a rich finish.
WA94: The 2019 Fleurie Joie de Palais is taut and concentrated, unwinding in the glass with notes of raspberries, cherries, sweet spices and musk. Medium to full-bodied, lively and saline, it's a vibrant, mineral wine with upside for those with a little patience. As readers may remember, this 1.5-hectare parcel of steeply sloping decomposed pink granite was planted in the 1950s.
