Domaine Fabien Coche Bourgogne Chardonnay 2016
This tiny family-run domain based in Meursault traces a shared lineage with cousin JF Coche-Dury. Created in 1940, it was formerly known as Coche-Bizouard. The estate is comprised of 12 hectares of mostly old vine vineyards spread over Meursault, Pommard, Auxey-Duresses, Monthelie, Saint Romain, Saint-Aubin and Puligny-Montrachet. All wines are produced with traditional methods and with respect to nature.
Fabien Coche’s entry-level Bourgogne Chardonnay may be one of the greatest bargains in his esteemed and wide range. Unlike the majority of Bourgogne Blanc which use grapes primarily from outlying or more marginal corners of Burgundy, this wine is sourced almost entirely from eight parcels in Meursault and Puligny. Hand-harvested, whole-cluster pressed, cold-stabilized and fermented. Aged a minimum of 12 months in barrel (80/20 old/new oak). Six additional months of aging in stainless steel tanks
