Domaine Brusset Rasteau La Bastide 2019

WA90: Brusset is based in Cairanne, but the 2019 Rasteau La Bastide is also a notable effort. While it lacks the liveliness and vibrancy of the Cairanne bottlings, it's a broad, ripe, flavorful wine that should provide plenty of short term pleasure. Plum and chocolate nuances mark the nose and palate of this medium to full-bodied wine, while the tannins are plush and soft, leaving a creamy impression on the palate.
In 1947 Andre Brusset founded the vineyard, set among olive and apricot groves, becoming one of the first in the southern Rhone to estate-bottle his wines. Today, Laurent, the third generation of the Brusset family, meticulously crafts wines with charm, depth, and complexity. The Rasteau is a blend of Grenache and Mourvèdre matured in tank and older barrels. It is layered with plum, cassis and espresso notes. Medium to full bodied.
