JS96: So dense and rich with layers of ripe and dense fruit. Opulent and velvety. Full and layered. Soft and luscious. Very long.   (6/2016)

RP96: The DRC produced splendid wines in 1990, and the Richebourg is close to reaching its plateau of maturity. A dark ruby color reveals lightening at the edge. The stunning aromatics offer intense aromas of spring flowers, black fruits, licorice, and toasty new oak. Fleshy and medium to full-bodied, with a velvety-textured palate, and sweet fruit, this smoky, rich, complex red Burgundy can be drunk now and over the next decade. (RP)   (2/2002)

VM96: Domaine de la Romanée-Conti’s 1990 Richebourg is one of the raciest Richebourgs I can remember tasting. Utterly explosive in the glass, the 1990 possesses superb richness and more than enough fruit to nearly cover the typically imposing Richebourg tannins. What a gorgeous Burgundy this is. (AG)   (7/2015)

BH94: The first hints of bricking are now in evidence The markedly ripe though still admirably fresh and dense blackberry fruit aromas now evidence noticeable secondary character (though only a trace of sous bois) plus gorgeous spice nuances. There is also plenty of spice elements present on the focused, opulent and serious big-bodied flavors that possess superb finishing complexity and terrific persistence. There is still some tannic structure to resolve though this has excellent density of extract and impeccable balance that should permit this impressive effort to live for another 50 years. Multiple, and consistent, notes.   (4/2017)
