Chateau d'Issan Margaux 2014
JS94: "Complex aromas of sweet tobacco, chocolate, cedar and plums. Undertones of blackcurrants and dark chocolate. Dense and tight with a beautifully and tightly knit palate, yet this shows so much intensity and length. Love the wet-earth and berry character on the finish. Give this three to four years to soften even if it’s fantastic already to taste."
Chateau d’Issan sits in the middle of the Margaux appellation, a truly privileged location. It is a Third Growth of the 1855 Imperial Classification. The wine is made from old vines and is 77% Cabernet Sauvignon and 23% Merlot. It’s supple, subtle, and elegant with long keeping potential. Spends 16 to 18 months in barrels, half of which are new.
