Chateau Laffitte Carcasset St. Estephe 2016
Founded in 1759 by Joseph Laffitte, an attorney of the King of France, this is one of the great Cru Bourgeois values from the gravel plateau of Saint Estèphe. The wine is beautifully balanced with fresh layers of blackberry, raspberry, and graphite. Focused mineral notes carry through to a long finish. 70% Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot and Cabernet Franc, aged 12 months in oak.
JS91: Another very ripe 2016 with a ton of black fruit that interacts with the racy dry tannins to give this some real excitement through the long finish. Drink or hold.
WA91-93: The 2016 Chateau Laffitte Carcasset offers attractive cedar infused black fruit on the nose, hints of red plum following just behind, quite detailed with abundant fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannin that exert a gentle grip, a masculine Saint Estephe that is harmonious and focused, the finish testifying that just the right amount of oak was employed. Great job here!
WE92: Situated on the gravel plateau of Saint-Estèphe, this estate has produced a richly structured wine with fine tannins and dense black fruits. The 70% Cabernet Sauvignon offers black-currant flavors and acidity plus plenty of firm tannins for aging.
