Chateau Chapelle d'Alienor Bordeaux Superieur 2016

This comes from magnificent clay-limestone slopes beneath a chapel from the 11th century. The vineyard is located 15-minutes from its famed sister property, Chateau la Gaffeliere, which the Malet Roquefort family has also owned since 1705. Made by the same team as Gaffeliere, this possesses the best qualities of Saint Emilion. It is refined and balanced, with generous dark fruits and soft tannins. 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc.
JS90: Interesting aromas of dark fruit with orange-peel and apricot undertones. Medium-bodied, tight and focused. Round tannins and a delicious finish. Why wait?
WE90: Under the same ownership as Château la Gaffelière in Saint-Emilion, this estate has produced a sumptuously ripe wine. Its tannins are softened enough to integrate with the generous black fruits. Acidity keeps the wine in balance. Drink from 2020.
