Chateau Ausone Saint Emilion Grand Cru 1983
WA94: This wine continues to evolve more quickly than other vintages of Ausone. This means there is a chance its owners will live to consume it. The color is a healthy medium-dark ruby with only slight amber at the edge. The exotic bouquet of ripe, pruny red and black fruits intermingled with scents of minerals, wet stones, damp earth, and spices is a turn-on. Rich and fleshy, but with considerable underlying tannin, this sumptuous, precociously-styled Ausone can be drunk today. It should keep for at least 25-30 more years.
