Casanova della Spinetta Toscana Il Rose di Casanova 2021

Giorgio Rivetti’s magic touch with Moscato, Barbera and Nebbiolo in Piedmont took the world by storm. This is his more recently-acquired Tuscan estate, Casanova della Spinetta, located in the hills south of Pisa where the vineyards enjoy the strong summer sun and the soft breezes wafting off the nearby Mediterranean Sea. Il Rose is a blend of equal parts Sangiovese and Prugnolo Gentile. Bursts of red fruit and citrus make this a great summer sipper with food or conversation.

VM91: The 2021 Il Rose di Casanova is lovely with a bouquet that’s more savory than sweet, mixing crushed rocks with white strawberries and peach skins. While soothingly soft, there’s a salty core of minerality and vibrant acidity that creates a juicy and energetic expression, further accentuated by hints of sour melon. The 2021 tapers off remarkably fresh with a candied citrus twang and leaves the mouth watering for more.
