Camus-Bruchon Savigny les Beaune Cuvee Reine Joly 2018
VM88: The 2019 Savigny-lès-Beaune "Cuvée Reine Joly" has a fragrant bouquet of well-defined iron-tinged red berry fruit; wilted rose petal aromas develop in the glass. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity and good density. Saline toward the peppery finish, which tightens up so that it seems to have less persistence than Camus-Bruchon’s other cuvées. Give this 2–3 years in bottle.
The Camus family is gifted in old vines, many of which were planted just before and after World War I by Reine Joly, the family’s matriarch. The family's portfolio of Premier Crus encompasses some of the very greatest vineyards Savigny-les-Beaune.
Rich and jammed with wild berry fruit and lithe tannins. It offers up extraordinary value in the world of red Burgundy.
