Broadside Chardonnay Wild Ferment Central Coast 2018
The Margarita Vineyard is close to the coast, allowing in cool, misty breezes which produces reds of firmer structure and tremendous depth while maintaining the value-driven pricing of Paso Robles wines. Broadside was created by the husband & wife wine-making team of Brian & Stephanie Terrizzi. The term “Broadside” itself refers to the first reasonably priced paper products, first used in the 1600’s, which released an explosion of creativity expressed on these large sheets until the nineteenth century. Stephanie is a collector of old “Broadsides”, so the winery took on that name and the label emulates the typing on the original printing press writings. Stephanie is also a driving force behind Broadside being eco-friendly. All Broadside wines are produced through sustainable agricultural practices and vegan fining techniques, using no animal products. Combined with the exceptional fruit sources, Broadside wines are outstanding values, well over-delivering on for the price.
The wild ferment Chardonnay is clean and broad aromas of poached pear, apple and mango candy are ripe and very approachable on the nose of this twist-top bottling. More poached pome fruit and pineapple flavors arise on the sip, but there is a lemony edge that keeps it in check.
