Billaud-Simon Chablis 1er Cru Mont de Milieu 2017
Charles Louis Noel Billaud returned home to Chablis at the end of the Napoleonic wars in 1815 and founded Domaine Billaud-Simon. The estate was purchased by Domaine Faiveley in 2014 but still operates with its own vineyard and facilities. Premier Cru Montee de Mileu vineyard is just southeast of the Grand Crus. This Chardonnay is full of delicious ripe citrus fruits and white flowers.
BH 92: An expressive and mildly exotic nose consists of fresh and ripe yellow orchard fruit, citrus, lychee and a hint of ocean breeze. There is good volume to the delicious, round, rich and quite generously proportioned medium-bodied flavors that possess good power and fine length if perhaps not quite the same complexity. Note that this too should amply reward mid-term keeping.
