Barone Ricasoli Brolio Chianti Classico Riserva 2019

WA93+: Oak aging plays a larger role in shaping the intensity and texture of the Barone Ricasoli 2019 Chianti Classico Riserva Brolio. You can count on a solid 10-year aging window for this wine. Made with all Sangiovese, the wine is balanced and especially bright with dark fruit, spice and cured tobacco. It offers soft tannins, ample volume and lingering hints of toast and spice. This is another terrific value (with some aging potential too).
These are the best set of wines I've seen from Francesco Ricasoli and the team at Barone Ricasoli in my two decades in this job. When I say ""the best,"" specifically I mean that they are the most assertive in their individual identities. This historic Castello di Brolio estate boasts a winemaking legacy spanning an almost unthinkable nine centuries. There have been many excellent vintages born in these cellars, and this estate has proudly produced groundbreaking wines that have shaped the very course of modern Italian wine.
WS93: Well-marked by new oak, offering cherry, plum, iron and spice aromas and flavors, this red is concentrated and vibrant. Delivers dense and interwoven tannins, with a lingering aftertaste echoing cherry, mineral and spice. Best from 2025 through 2040.
