Hermanos Malbec Tannat Salta 2011

70% Malbec and 30% Tannat from the premier winegrowing region in Salta, located 700 miles north of Mendoza. The vineyards here are very high elevation (nearly 7,000 feet), with loads of sunlight. The wine is medium to full bodied, with aromas and concentrated flavors of dark cherry, licorice and cocoa. This is delicious by itself, and even better paired with grilled meats such as flank steak or lamb. –EG (7/12)

"Subtle...plum, licorice and bitter chocolate. Supple, moderately dense and fresh, with saline and mineral notes adding interest to the cola and dark chocolate flavors."
88 Points, Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate, 2011
"Notions of rose petal, asphalt, licorice, and black cherry inform the nose of a savory, concentrated, full-flavored red that will pair well with grilled meats. Drink this tasty effort over the next 3-4 years."
