I am pleased to announce Buffalo Burgundy Week 2015. My hope is that this will become a special annual tradition in the Queen City, paying homage to La Paulée de Meursault and celebrating both the newest harvest and the newest vintage releases in bottle. These events are intended to celebrate the great wines and traditions of Burgundy, and to create a special camaraderie among Burgundy lovers, who are some of the most passionate wine enthusiasts around. About  La Paulée de Meursault: La Paulée celebrates the end of grape harvest with a convivial Burgundian fête shared by growers and their guests. The celebration is part of Les Trois Glorieuses, "the three glorious days," that take place around Beaune. Festivities include a Saturday banquet hosted by the Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin at the Château du Clos Vougeot. On the weekend, the renowned auction of Hospices de Beaune wines is held in the beautiful fifteenth century Hôtel-Dieu. The grand finale of this oenophilic trilogy is La Paulée, an extravagant luncheon that starts at noon on Monday at the Château de Meursault and continues well into the evening. The modern day La Paulée was initiated in 1923 by Jules Lafon, one of Burgundy's most respected wine growers, when he decided to revive the traditional medieval grape harvest celebration to which Cistercian monks invited their vineyard laborers.  The renowned sommelier and wine importer, Daniel Johnnes, introduced La Paulée’s traditions to New York in 2000, and an annual celebration also occurs in San Francisco.

Burgundy Wine Dinner at Rue Franklin

Join us for an exclusive wine dinner at one of Buffalo’s most venerable restaurants, Rue Franklin. Chef Corey Kley will delight us with six courses paired with back-vintage wines from some of Burgundy’s top producers including Domaine Leflaive, Bonneau du Martray, Dugat-Py, Dominique Laurent and more! Andrew Gallarneau of The Buffalo News recently called the Rue “a true jewel” and noted that Kley “demonstrated diamond-cutter precision in technique, proportion and seasoning.” This promises to be one of the finest wine dinners in Buffalo’s recent history. Cost is $225 per person and includes tax and gratuity. This dinner will be limited to 50 people.
